Usually, EMSEV organizes a biennial meeting. It means originally 2020 was the year. However, due to COVID-19, we unavoidably postponed the meeting for two years. EMSEV 2022 was organized by a hybrid style (on-site & remote).

IUGG 2019 in Montrél, 8 to 18, July 2019.
Two EMSEV related sessions were organized.

EMSEV 2018 in Italy was successfully organized

Venue: The "Great Arsenal" from the 15th century to 2022.

The "Great Arsenal" in the city of Chania traces a historical course through the centuries. The residents and visitors to the city pass by this emblematic building every day knowing its importance and usefulness throughout the ages.
The architecture of the building excites both lovers and scholars of architectural history, as well as any pedestrian who happens to pass in front of him. The arched passageways, the ornate sheds, the sturdy construction with the carved sandstones, and the art of masonry throughout the entire scope of the building, dominate the heart of the Old Venetian port.
The arsenals existed in the port area of Chania since 1497. The "Great Arsenal" began to built in 1585-1600.
Over the years, its premises successively hosted the school of the Christian Community (1872), a number of theaters (1892), the public hospital (1923), and the Town Hall (1928-1941).
Coming today, from a roofless ruin, it has been transformed into an impressive event space. It functions as a Mediterranean Architecture Center, hosting important Greek and international events.

IWEP6 in Chiba, Japan

6th Internatonal Workshpop on Earthquake Preparation Process (IWEP6)
31 May to 1 July,2019.

Scope of the workshop

The most recent catastrophic earthquakes (1999 Chichi, Taiwan, 2004 Sumatra, 2008 Sichuan, China, 2011 Tohoku, Japan and 2015 in Nepal) claimed thousands of lives and caused extensive economic losses. Year of 2019 is also the 20th year of remembering the 1999 Chichi Earthquake and 15th year of remembering of the 2004 Sumatra Great Earthquake disasters in Taiwan and Indonesia. Still the International science community is looking for solutions in the early detection of major seismic events in order to minimize the loss of human life. Multiple detections of earthquake precursory signals have been reported before and the new observations from space and ground have provided new evidences about the existence of pre-earthquake processes. The latest studies reviled the pre-earthquake signals statistical significance, repeatability, universality, and effectiveness for the forecast. In this workshop, while still discussing the applicability of pre-earthquake signals towards short-term earthquake forecasting, we contemplate to explore different physical mechanisms for generation and propagation of pre-earthquake signals. Discussions on earthquake forecast testing, multi-parameter observation and international joint research are also included.
